VisOrc is a graphical design environment (GDI) that creates output compatible with any compiler conforming to the MPEG4 Structured Audio Format. VisOrc works with graphical objects representing various structures and is then able to convert these to the SAOL and SASL text files. The current version is not capable of operating in the other direction (i.e. reading standard SAOL or SASL files and converting these into a graphical format).

Work in VisOrc can be on several different levels. It is possible to create user defined opcodes consisting of assemblies of low-level units and/or normal coding, to create Instruments which utilise these opcodes and other core opcodes. It is also possible to link instruments at the highest (global) level to create a performance.

If you are interested in the composition of electronic music you will undoubtably find something of interest in VisOrc. VisOrc can be used to create anything from an individual sound to a complete composition and it creates WAV audio files which can be used in many other applications.

A very nice feature of VisOrc SAOL is its graphical score editor. SAOL scorefiles are textfiles, but with VisOrcs editor, you can just draw your score:
